Originally, the film spent some more time clarifying the dynamic between Rey and Finn, and further setting up Rose’s crush on the Resistance “hero.” Rose chastises Finn for “pining for Rey,” which Finn quickly denies, claiming that he was “raised to fight” and that he finally found something to fight for in his friend, Rey. Supposedly, Finn and Rose also bonded over being separated from their families by the First Order. SlashFilm reported on Wednesday that Rose and Finn’s relationship was slightly more fleshed out in Last Jedi before some reshoots. Director Rian Johnson revealed that the Blu-ray/DVD release will include 20 minutes of deleted scenes, one of which involved Rose chastising Finn for being so hung up on Rey. It turns out Finn’s crush on Rey was originally played up a lot more in The Last Jedi. This post contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. As of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, though, Finn and Rey had been separated by injury, circumstance, and Finn’s burgeoning relationship with Resistance mechanic Rose Tico.
